Piping Stories: A Natural Burial and a Beautiful Farewell
I recently had the honor of playing bagpipes at a beautiful natural burial ceremony attended by Jane Fonda and a small gathering of friends and family.
Danny Boy had been played at the funerals of generations of the family, a tradition they wanted to continue. I thought Dawning of the Day would be a lovely addition, bringing another traditional Irish melody to the peaceful outdoor setting.
It was a heartfelt farewell, surrounded by nature, poetry, and music. Some performances quietly stay with you, and this was certainly one of them.
